Golf for Golfers Spanish Gringo

If you come to Acapulco to play golf and are increasingly associated with a local Mexican golfer tourists may have a short history of golfers from Mexico and Spanish courses. Here are some quick assistance.

Lorena Ochoa first player most prestigious golf of Mexico. In 2009, she was ranked number one golfer in the world and a leader of the LPGA. Lorena was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 1981. Many believe that Lee Trevino (sometimes called SuperMex "by his fans) is Mexico, but it is true that in fairness. Born in Dallas, and live permanently in California. He never lived in Mexico. Do not think that Chi Chi Rodriguez, Seve Ballesteros and Sergio Garcia are Mexican, because they have Hispanic names. Chi Chi is Porto Rico and the latter two are from Spain.

Secondly, there is some good news for English to play golf in Mexico: golf was invented in Scotland, almost all of golf terminology is in English or (archaic) in Scottish Gaelic. (For example, "Niblicks" is derived Scotland's "Tip" for the nose). Words such as "bird" and "bogey" was in the use of jargon in the U.S. and England. Therefore, their field of golf partner of Mexico will be the same terminology as you do - most of the time. There are exceptions, of course, and you should be ready for changes in the way words are pronounced. For example, "green" will probably be pronounced as "gringo" and rhymes with "Swing".

The club (a place) is a "Golf Club." The club (club) is in itself a "stick" or "stick golf. "Woods called" woods "and irons are called" irons "(without" h "and three" RR ").'s corner (sand, pitching or loft) is a spoon", which literally means a small spoon. The putter is a PC. " In Spanish, the word is a word often comical and ironic similar coarse to prostitute. All these elements are in your golf bag or 'bag golf. "

You can have a stand to help in the course. It is called a "basket or sometimes the more generic term" aid " or assistant. You can be riding along the route. This is a "basket", "Carrillo" cart or golf. "

A golf ball is a "ball, although sometimes ironically called a Ball" or lump, especially when it bounces in the wrong direction. ("Ball" is usually reserved for balloons and "ball" hard spheres, but there is no strict rule.)

The course itself - which will be called a "process" or "links" - Is it a "tour", which means something like a "cycle". Is likely to hear a golf course called "or" court "that uses more informal.

The terms "disability" (or a hole or a player) and "zero" (Ie a zero handicap player) are the same as in English, but you can hear "hits allocated" or "shock" Sin assigned, respectively. Rather, the definitions of terms fixed.

The hole is a hole "(which means" hole in Spanish Mexico). Once you leave the "exit" or "T", "you are, hopefully, in the street or" street ". This is the same word as "the street" in Spanish. If you missed the street, you're probably mato "Or" bush "- Raw - if not the" Forest ", or in the woods! Your goal, of course, is the" green "(The same thing Spanish and English). Try to avoid the bunkers, which are called "bunkers" in Spanish, too, but are often referred to simply as "sand" - Sand. Any other hazard - water or an obstacle to man - is a "Hazar" and an "obstacle".

A move is a blow. "A unit is a long shot." In general, the output "-" T ". (The holder of not real - point a hole of the ball - called a" T "in the course Mexico.) Hook (Effect left) and (Effect of right) groups in terms generally called by their English or perhaps by appropriate names, non-printable, like the United States.

The second shot from the fairway, is an approach shot "but sometimes called" approach to the UN. " A pitch "(short and high) is the same as in English (often pronounced" fishing ") but keep in mind that in some Spanish speaking countries (Not Mexico), the word sounds very close to an end fairly thick, and can therefore generate laughter. A "chip" (usually pronounced "Cheap") is the same word in English, but the verb to hit a chip is "chipping". "Kicking" is used to do, which is often written "post", but pronounced "PAH." Shoot the hole is more formal, and can be covered and put long, low-chips.

Top Spin or a version of "Up or" before "or" spin effect of the advance. "Back spin follows the same convention. In a Spanish might call "Backspace" or "backfire."

For "top" shot - which hit the top to raise or cut - is "bumping." The swing itself is rolling Stock.

The types of competitions are being provided in English, too, although some golfers used the Spanish versions as follows: A "great" tournament is sometimes called "Grand Prix." A "master" of the tournament is reserved for professionals. "Play medal "is a contest in which the lowest wins the bet." Match Play "is a tournament where the player who wins the most holes is the first place. An" open " be a tournament called "open" or "free tournament."

"Good luck - well on your golf vacation - a chance to Acapulco.
