Omnidirectional microphone tie or a wireless digital audio recorder for weddings?
I am willing opinions of those who used one or the one for the outdoor cinema and / or marriage within. I have heard good and bad in both. Any pointers on the use one would be great too. To further clarify, I was thinking about buying an omnidirectional microphone, but when looking for the best to get there, I saw the answers where people said digital audio recording was better. I have a Canon XL1s audio jacks. Should I get one or two? I filmed for the most intimate weddings, and the microphone of the camera enough. I am marriages increasingly large, and the need to strengthen my audio win votes, etc.
OK, now I can give a better answer. Really, you should also ask a radio / receiver. A lapel microphone is something that may or may not be an omnidirectional microphone, and also may or may not be a wireless microphone. So what should really wonder whether we uses a wireless system that feeds audio to your video camera or audio recorder separated only? I guess what you mean, so I'll give some advice, pros and cons, etc.: 1. Lapel slightly a mess. The good thing is that they collect on their MIC in the camera Photo may not, but you can get clothes murmur microphone so great to use for something like this, if anything the place as if they use a podium, etc., is a PZM microphone. You can get the most expensive undertaken by the Crown, or even use a Radio Shack PZM (That's all quality makes! -- Many professional recording studios, including the use thereof, do not worry, they are good). There is a plaque plane, and it includes everything, eg an area of 10 feet, and the good thing about them is that the sound does not seem very far, as most microphones. So a decision, a draw or PZM. 2. Wireless camera, or directly into a separate audio recorder only? Either is probably about the same cost. I think I would go with the wireless setup. The only drawback is that you have the receiver mounted on the device, which is not great, but it's something to try while you're shooting. Not bad though. If you record audio on the stand-alone audio recorder (like I do ... I release the film, however, and there is no audio track in the movie ...). values then you must go through the same nightmare occurred: synchronizing audio to your video editing software. It will not be so bad for you, as what happened to one billion dollars. But anyway, it extra work, and you will not be the roof, he must find an activity that produces a very strong visual seem to find a synchronization point. Kinda a Keester pain in the ... Now, I think, if you do this on a regular basis, you're more likely not to have a podium or something like putting PZM microphone, so it's something to think about. However, you need a lapel microphone for each person. And there are exceptions to this rule - A microphone will not pick up everybody, believe me. This means that either get 3 wireless settings (3 transmitters and receivers), and receives 3 issuers (each microphone) and a small mixer to mix the signals to 3 before moving on to a receiver at the camera ... but that means we now have a mixer and a receiver unit. PZM will easily find to say, 3-6 feet, so if you can put anywhere they face while would be well. In addition, if you use a separate audio recorder, you have audio, audio port for your camcorder, you can choose as you like (or cut between the two) during assembly. There are advantages and disadvantages of any decision. I hate the sound of a video camera, however, because that sounds not very distant microphone in a stable near the sound source. But I am a filmmaker, so I'm very picky about these things! PM me if you want to ask further questions. You can get all the things I speak in www.bhphotovideo.com
